Oriole Feeder
Orioles are very beautiful birds. They have bright colors and a beautiful song. In the Midwest, it is easy to see them. It is also easy to feed them.
ÂOrioles, like hummingbirds, are nectar feeders. While you can buy a commercial feeder to attract them to your yard, it is also pretty simple to make one yourself.
ÂItems needed:
Orange
Hanging device of some sort – be creative (a hook that hangs a normal bird feeder can be used as the hanging device, or you can use some twine to attach it to a tree limb.)
ÂCut the orange in half. If using a hook, cut an X in the rind side of the orange and slide onto hook. If you are using twine, run the twine through the X, tie ends together and hang from tree limb (make sure it’s strong enough to support the weight).
ÂWith this type of feeder you may find some unwelcome guests at your house. These“feedersâ€Â are sometimes eaten by a squirrel. Other visitors may include wasps, so be careful – especially if you or someone in your household has an allergy to bees!
