Here is a feeder that uses something that you would otherwise just throw away – an empty paper towel roll or toilet paper roll! This is an easy activity that kids can help out with.

Empty cardboard roll

Honey

Birdseed

Waxed paper

Yarn

• Take a piece or waxed paper that is at least as long as your tube.
• Sprinkle birdseed on the paper.
• Carefully pour honey onto the roll. It’s ok if some gets on the waxed paper. You can use your fingers to help spread the honey around if you would like.
• Roll the tube in the birdseed until it is covered in seed.
• Cut a piece of yarn that is long enough to go through the tube and allow it to hang from a branch.
• Tie yarn through tube.
• Hang the tube from a branch or feeder hook.
