Window Hummingbird Feeders

Why would you want to have a window hummingbird feeder? It's pretty straightforward, really: you want to have a better view of the birds as they enjoy their meal. Hanging a feeder directly on a window is the perfect way to accomplish this. As the birds come up to get a taste of nectar, you can be only a few feet away. What a great way to get up close and personal with these beautiful and fascinating creatures.

There are a couple things to keep in mind though. First, you will need to be fairly still. Unless you're dealing with one way glass (and really, who has that installed in their house?), remember that the bird can see you just as well as you can see it. Any quick movements on your part are going to spook it and ruin your chances at watching the show.

Also, you'll want to make sure that the window where you are mounting the feeder has something in the background so that birds can clearly see that it is a manmade object. Windows that look directly through to other windows can sometimes deceive birds into flying right into them.

Also, even if you don't want to get a close up view of hummingbirds as they are feeding at the window, it still might be the right way to go. Getting the birds right up by the house will give you a view from almost anywhere inside, whether it be the dining room table or the living room couch.
